Happy Tuesday babes! I've been waking up to cloudy mornings this past week which makes me realize summer is soon coming to an end. As sad as it is to let go of this sunny beach weather season, I am so excited for all that fall has to offer. With that said, I've officially decided that it's time to transition my wardrobe from summer to fall and I'm partnering with Green Dragon Clothing to share a two part series together showing you how I take my two favorite summer clothing items and style them for fall. As you might already know, this past summer I practically lived in cute dresses and my favorite pair of distressed denim shorts so today I'll be sharing how I transition and style my denim shorts for a more fall appropriate look. Stay tuned for part two of this series where I'll be sharing how I take a cute summer dress and style it for fall too.
Summers in Southern California are usually blistering hot, reaching temperatures of ninety degrees or higher and fall weather is usually not far behind, staying in the eighties most days and maybe dropping down to the seventies on rare occasion. That being said, a whole new season might have you think you need an entire new wardrobe but that isn't necessarily true, at least not in Southern California. Buying a few key items and sprinkling them in to your current wardrobe can make a huge impact. The way we style and wear each item is of course dependent on the season and I love it because I feel like it brings new life to that specific clothing item. A good pair of distressed denim shorts is a must-have in any SoCal wardrobe. For summer, I paired this same denim short with a cute floral off the shoulder crop top and a pair of wedges (see more of that look here) and you might think it'd be tough to style the same pair of denim shorts for fall but it's definitely not. My secret to taking a summer look and transitioning it to fall is quite simple, just add layers.
In this particular look, I layered the most darling white crochet kimono jacket with cute fringe detail on the bottom hemline from Green Dragon Clothing atop a simple lilac camisole and distressed denim shorts. I traded in my summer straw hat for a cute light brown wool hat which is a lot more appropriate for fall. A pair of wedges or sandals get left behind and in their place I added a pair of brown ankle boots that give me added height and are super easy and comfortable to walk in. The mix of textures and layers makes this look perfect for fall.
Taking your summer shorts and transitioning them for fall is very easy to achieve. Just remember to add light layers, wear a wool hat instead of straw, and change you style of shoe. Now I feel like I'm ready for pumpkin spice everything and I couldn't be more excited! What is one thing you're looking forward to this new season? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you so much for taking a moment of your day to stop by. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,
