Happy Monday, besties! In honor of Valentine's Day tomorrow, I wanted to share a special and very personal collection of photos + a little snippet of the first time Shawn and I met. Yay for love stories! It's no secret that I'm a big fan of romance and romantic gestures. Yes, I'm that girl that cries during Nicholas Sparks movies, hey I can't help it 🙈. . With that being said, you can be sure that I absolutely LOVE Valentine's Day. I see it as a day to celebrate love all around and go the extra mile to show your special someone just little bit more affection. I do think love should be celebrated everyday, but isn't it fun to have a day solely dedicated to showing it? Plus, who can turn down chocolate and fresh flowers? I know I can't!!
I thought it'd be fun to introduce you to the guy behind the camera since it's Valentine's Day week. Yes, he does exist! Haha! My husband works just as hard as I do when it comes to creating gorgeous photography to share with you here on the blog and my social media. He's the reason I'm able to share all my favorite outfits and I'm eternally grateful for him.
My husband, his name is Shawn, and I met back in 2011. We worked at the same place, Forever 21, and one day on our break he approached me. I'll never forget the first words he said to me were "Why are you drinking oatmeal mixed with water?" Romantic right, haha? Every time we took a break we would chat in the break room until we had to clock back in. One day, after knowing that I wasn't really looking for a relationship, he asked me to hangout, he never said the word date because he knew I would've said no, and I said okay, sure. Our first date, which I was totally oblivious to #facepalm, was to the Griffith Observatory located in Los Angeles. I remember the sky was clear, the moon was shining and all the stars were twinkling in the sky. It was just gorgeous! What actually took me by surprise though, was his intelligence. He knew all this information about physics and astronomy and went on to explain in detail all the displays inside the museum. After our fun time at Griffith Observatory, Shawn asked if we could go on another date. I smiled and said "What do you mean another date?" he smiled back and said "Oh, come on, it'll be fun". He took me on hikes, we went to the beach where I saw him surf, he even taught me how to play volleyball. Before I knew it, I was smitten with the guy. Long story short, we got married on a cliffside overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Dana Point, California and we're now going on what will be our fifth year anniversary this year. Our love and bond has only grown deeper with time and every day is as exciting as the last.
Love has a funny way of working and I am so thankful to have found my one true love when I was least expecting it. Whether you're spending Valentine's Day with your sweetheart or your best gal pal this year, remember that you're worth more than the moon and stars combined. For my single ladies out there, your one true love is coming, I promise. I do want to thank Elizabeth from EM Photography for capturing these stunning photos that I will cherish for years and years to come. It means so much to me to be able to have stunning photographs with my hubby since he's the one that is always behind the camera and we rarely get the chance to take photos together. If you're ever in the Southern California area, make sure to book a session with her. She's a joy to work with and has a keen eye for detail. How are you spending your Valentine's Day tomorrow? Let me know in the comments below.
As always, thank you so much for taking a moment of your day to stop by. See you back here on Wednesday for a brand new style post. Wishing you a wonderful love-filled week ahead,
