3 Easy Ways to Become More Productive (as a Blogger)
Have you ever heard that saying, either you run the day or the day runs you? It's so easy to get caught up in distractions throughout the day and forget about the tasks that should instead be getting done. There is no better feeling at the end of the day than the feeling of accomplishment and good performance. I don't know about you, but sometimes I'm very guilty of spending too much time on social media, scrolling for an endless amount of time without accomplishing a single feat. Okay, don't get me wrong, I love Instagram and Pinterest as much as the next blogger (I wouldn't be here if I didn't) but it's way too easy to get stuck in the social media realm these days. In order to avoid that, there are a few things that I like to do every single day to make sure I feel good about my productivity level at the end of the day. These three easy solutions can be applied to anyone but I wanted to share them with you because they really help me stay on track and super organized as a blogger.
01. Make a to-do list everyday (and stick to it). Before I fall asleep, I usually start thinking of what I need to do the next day. I leave a little notepad and pen on my nightstand to jot down and begin my to-do list for the next day. Anything from a reminder or note for my next photoshoot to what I'm making for dinner and ingredients I need to pick up at the grocery store. The next morning, I go through and make a mental list of my tasks for the day then quickly jot them down. Making a to-do list helps me stay on track without allowing me to forget something I otherwise would have. Plus, there's the added benefit of crossing things off the list one by one, such a good feeling!
02. Check your planner every single morning. First things first, get yourself a planner (a pretty one usually does the trick). As a blogger, creating content constantly is key to running a successful blog. Staying organized without a planner can become a disaster very very quickly. A planner helps you keep track of any responsibilities and tasks at hand and also increases your productivity since everything that requires your attention is out in the open. It allows you to prioritize tasks and make sure that you know exactly what needs to get done in a timely manner. I've always been a visual person, hence the to-do lists and planner obsession. I love my planner because I can visualize days and weeks in advance and plan out any new content for my blog and social media outlets moving forward. I typically plan my blogposts up to a month in advance, which allows me to plan, shoot, edit, and put together an entire blogpost days before it goes live.
03. Manage your time wisely. Like I said earlier, I'm guilty of taking long strolls, uh.. I mean scrolls, through both Instagram and Pinterest (my favorite social media channels) but getting lost in the social media realm without time accountability is so dangerous. Just a few minutes can turn into hours, which then turns into having no energy or focus or drive to commit to your own tasks. Setting a time limit on anything that isn't penciled in your planner allows you to keep focused on your goals. Don't let time management be your excuse for not working as hard as you know you can. Remember to commit, don't make excuses, and keep working.
