October 2016 Recap
Hey there besties! Today is the last day of October, which means the month of October is coming to an end. Whoa! Where does time go? This month was filled with all things fall and the cutest season appropriate outfits, because Southern California finally got the memo. Yay! Apple picking, pumpkin decorating, blanket scarves, and festive florals were all a part of this month and all make me so happy. Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons and this month definitely didn't disappoint in the season department.
Some of my favorite fall outfits include distressed denim and a pair of cute ankle boots. This look was perfect to transition from summer to fall in an instant. The off the shoulder blouse gives this look a bit of feminine flair while the matching hat and ankle boots totally scream fall vibes. Wrap yourself in a cute plaid blanket scarf and you have the perfect fall outfit of your dreams. See more of this wrapped in plaid look here.
I shared a fun to-do list for fall, including apple picking and pumpkin decorating on the blog this month. I love making fun lists like these because I always look forward to what a new season has to offer. It also makes it easy to look back on and cross things off to make sure I don't miss any fun. This month, I managed to cross two things out of the ten that were on the list and I'm hoping I can cross even more next month. Click here if you want to see more of my Fall To Do List.
3 things. 1. Rocksbox is and will probably always be my favorite monthly jewelry subscription. It comes with three high end pieces of jewelry, delivered right to your doorstep and you get to wear them all month. Keep the jewelry you like and return the rest for a brand new box. It's pretty great! Use code forallthingspretttyxoxo to sign up for free. 2. I always work best when I have pretty things around me. I also LOVE keeping things sweet with guilt free snacks. I got a chance to try five new flavors from Arctic Zero this month and pomegranate was my favorite. So yum! 3. My lips have been feeling dry due to the weather, so I got my hands on Kaplan MD's newly reformulated lip mask & balm duo. So far, I'm really loving them!
Hubby and I went apple picking earlier this month and it was so much fun! Apple picking is something I've always wanted to do and I'm so happy we set some time on a bright weekend morning to do something I've always dreamed of. I opted to wear something sweet and crisp, so I went with an oversized white lace dress under a denim jacket. I found the cutest little basket at Target that would be perfect for our adventure, too! I shared a post on what to wear when you go apple picking on the blog, which you can see when you click here.
Some of my favorite beauty products from this month included these pretties, specially Pur-lisse's BB cream which I love because it is lightweight and comes with SPF. A touch of blush from Tarte using my favorite brush from Luxie and a pale pink mani completes a simply cute and natural makeup look. P.S. How adorable is that flower vase? I found it at Target after a blog bestie sent me a snap about it. I love how the flowers match her blush perfectly! So cute!
Half the fun of transitioning to a new season means getting to try all the new fashion trends. I love transitioning from summer to fall because fashion varies greatly from one season to the next. I shared seven fashion trends for Fall 2016 and a few of my favorite season appropriate colors. See all seven of my favorite fashion trends for Fall 2016 when you click here.
These are a few of my favorite photos that I shared to Instagram this month. As always, Rocksbox jewelry always makes for a pretty flatlay. I'm currently completely obsessed over those Kendra Scott pale pink earrings. They're the prettiest color! A plethora of ice cream cones and pumpkins prepped for decorating showed up on my Insta this month. As always, adorable flatlays are a must every month.
Button front skirts have been a huge trend this season and can be seen on practically every fashion blog. The perfect way to wear this type of skirt, in Southern California, is paired with a light sweater and a pair of cute lace ups. Although, I'm loving how versatile this skirt really is! In colder temps, I would opt to wear it with a heavier sweater under a jacket and a pair of OTK boots. Cute, right? See more of this look and learn how to wear a skirt for fall when you click here.
I think it's safe to say that florals will always have a special place in my heart. This berry floral boho dress from American Eagle is one of my favorites to wear. It's one of those pieces that I always reach for in my wardrobe because it's so easy to style. Paired with the right shoes and accessories, it turns into a cute outfit that is perfect for fall. I love keeping my accessories neutral and in natural color tones this time of year, which makes my JORD Wood Watch the perfect wrist accessory this season. I actually teamed up with JORD to host a giveaway where everyone is a winner. Click here to see more of this floral look and enter the contest.
This little blue dress comes with a funny little story, which is totally embarrassing and still makes me laugh when I think about it. Let's just say, #TargetDoesItAgain and comes to the rescue. This fit and flare blue oversized lace dress instantly caught my eye when I saw it on the hanger. It's also made of thicker material which makes it perfect for the season. Of course, a light sweater and a pair of darling ankle boots completes the outfit here in SoCal, but it can also be paired with tights and a heavy cardigan for colder temps. See more of this little blue dress and read the funny little story behind it when you click here.
Is anything better than a monthly beauty subscription? My favorite time of month comes complete with a pink bubble mailer filled with a cute makeup bag and five beauty products from Ipsy. This month was as great as ever and I shared close ups + thoughts on all of the items. Get the scoop on how this monthly sub works, how much it costs, and read all about the latest products I've gotten to play with in this blogpost.
Pumpkin decorating and the month of October go hand in hand, don't they? This month, I decided I wanted to try my hand at something new, so off I went to find mini white ghost pumpkins and paint in several colors. I've been obsessed with everything Rifle Paper Co. this year so I gathered inspiration from there and hand painted these pretty pumpkins. I don't think I can express how obsessed I am with these. They turned out just how I hoped they would! See lots more photos and the exact samples I used to make these pretties when you click here.
If you're still here, thank you so much for taking the time to recap the month of October with me. Wow! This month went by so fast, I still can't believe it! With that being said, I'm so excited for a new month and all it comes with. Thanksgiving is just around the corner which means holidays are fast approaching. With life practically flying by, I encourage you to take a moment every day to enjoy the little things around you.
